I have always looked forward to the celebrations not only to give thanks to the Lord but also to renew our bonds with each other. It is a closeness that nourishes us so deeply as does the encouragement that we give to the seminarians at St. Augustine and which they also give to us. For many of us, much has changed in the seminary since we walked its halls. It is wonderful that in a small way we are still connected to that journey.

Please see the schedule for this year's celebration below:

For many years now, our annual gathering and the annual dues we contribute to the association have been an opportunity also to show concrete support to the seminarians through initiatives such as covering the rental fees of a local arena for Friday afternoon hockey games. In the past, we have also contributed to special projects such as the restoration of the stained glass windows in the chapel. This year, the Seminary is asking alumni for its support of a renovation of the third floor lounge seminarian kitchen.

The third-floor lounge truly is a hub of the seminarians’ life of fraternity, a place where many daily informal moments grow into life-long friendships. And yet, it has been decades since this important space has received any true attention and renovation. As it begins to reveal its age, the Seminary would like to approach its repair one part at a time, beginning this year with the kitchen. A quality, long-lasting kitchen that will stand up to daily use by the seminarians has been quoted at $70,000. We will have a chance to discuss an alumni contribution to this project at our association meeting in September. In the meantime, please do consider what you might personally be able to give to this project. All donations, of course, will be tax deductible.

I would especially like to reach out to those who have not been able to be at an Alumni Day celebration for some time: I know we are all busy with the many tasks the Lord has given to us, but I hope that you would agree with me that such moments of fraternity always bear fruit. For your convenience a schedule of the day’s events is included with this letter. I sincerely look forward to greeting all of you personally.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Boniface Perri,

(President)
