Fr. James Mallon: Amazing Adventure
Through 25 years as a priest, Fr. James Mallon has had an extraordinary impact on the growth of parishes and Catholic communities around the world and he credits his time at St. Augustine’s with helping him do so.
Born in Scotland, Fr. Mallon was ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth, Nova Scotia in 1997 and is currently Pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish there. He is also the founder of Divine Renovation Ministry, a global ministry operating in 54 countries designed to help parishes cultivate vibrant and dynamic faith communities centered on missionary discipleship.
“The Ministry grew out of my first book, Divine Renovation: Bringing Your Parish from Maintenance to Mission,” he says. “Many of the theological connections and thoughts in that book were really started in Theology Class at St. Augustine’s.”
Divine Renovation is just one of a series of books Fr. Mallon has published over the years, his most recent being Thriving Faith: Discipleship in Uncertain Times.
In looking back on his 25 years as a priest, Fr. Mallon, who entered St. Augustine’s in 1992, says he has no regrets.
“Sometimes people ask me if I would do it again,” he says. “The answer is yes. It has been an adventure of a lifetime.”
