Rev. W. Noel Whelan

We ask that you join us in praying for the repose of the soul of Fr. William Noel Whelan, Class of 1999.

Fr. Noel was a late vocation and joined St. Augustine’s Seminary in 1993. He suffered a stroke during his internship at St. Brigid’s and had to take a break from formation.  As he recovered, he continued his studies and returned to the seminary for his last year of seminary formation. Thank you, Fr. Noel, for being a faithful shepherd and may God grant you eternal rest and peace.

Reverend William Noel Whelan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Father Whelan was 81 years old and in his 25th year of the priesthood. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 8, 1999 by the late Cardinal Ambrozic. Father Whelan was Associate Pastor at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica, St. Dominic’s Parish, and St. Anselm’s Parish. He was the Administrator of St. Dominic’s Parish. Father Whelan retired in 2017 and was in residence in Scarborough at Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence.
