Mass of the Holy Spirit Begins New Formation Year at St. Augustine’s Seminary

The Mass of the Holy Spirit is not just a tradition - it sets the tone for the entire academic year. The seminary community gathers to invoke the guidance of the Holy Spirit, recognizing the need for divine wisdom, grace, and discernment in their journey of faith and formation. This year, our President, Msgr. A. Robert Nusca, celebrated the Mass in the Seminary chapel on September 6, 2023.

Msgr. Nusca concluded his homily inviting those present to pray: "That as we focus upon the mystery of Holy Eucharist during this upcoming formation year, we may draw ever closer to Christ through the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar, ‘the medicine of immortality, and the antidote to death,’ in the words of St. Ignatius of Antioch. For as the Church teaches us, the Eucharist: ‘is truly a glimpse of heaven appearing on earth; a glorious ray of the heavenly Jerusalem which pierces the clouds of our history and lights up our journey.’” (Ecclesia de Eucharistia, 19)
