Divina Eloquia talk by Dr. Ky Heinze

As the Pontifical Faculty of Theology at St. Augustine’s Seminary prepares for the launch of its Licentiate in Theology and Patristic Sciences next Fall, it has begun organizing a series of Patristics talks.

Dr. Heinze explored Origen’s writings on Scripture and creation. Origen, in the third book of his Commentary on Genesis, says that the movements of celestial bodies are signs that make up a “book of the heavens,” meant to teach angels and glorified human beings the wonders of God and obedience. Even on earth, Origen thinks that people should be searching for the inner meaning of created things and trying to discern why they were made.

Dr. Ky Heinze is an Assistant Professor of Classical & Early Christian Studies at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom College. His area of expertise is Greek Christian and Neoplatonic thought in the second through the fourth centuries.

St. Augustine’s Licentiate in Theology and Patristic Sciences is a two-year Academic program. The Advanced degree is the only standalone Academic program of its kind in Canada. See the events page staugustines.on.ca/events for future talks.
