Heart Speaks to Heart
A Lenten Day of Retreat
The human heart thirsts for God, and the Heart of God thirsts for us. In this Lenten day of retreat, we open our depths to this mutual longing, exposing the barriers of shame, fear and distrust that keep us from turning to God, and preparing our hearts to have those barriers washed away in prayer and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We then turn our hearts towards the Heart of God, who loves and yearns for us, asking for the grace to believe in and receive that love during Eucharistic Adoration, which closes the day.
Our Lenten Day of Retreat will be led by members of the Madonna House Community. The Madonna House Apostolate is a Catholic ecclesial family of lay men, women and priests, dedicated to serving Christ in the poor by being a community of love, hospitality, and humble service. Founded in 1947 by Catherine Doherty, Madonna House has about 200 members, who make lifetime promises of poverty, chastity, and obedience and serve in both their main home in Combermere, Ontario and in field houses throughout the world, including here in Toronto.
