Gregory the Great: Why is he Great?

The Pontifical Faculty of Theology at St. Augustine's Seminary presents this talk as part of its Series of Patristic Talks for the 2023-2024 Academic Year.

Speaker: Fr. Brendan Lupton, S.T.D.

Fr. Lupton is a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago and serves as the President of the Pontifical Faculty of Theology at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake - Mundelein Seminary. He is an Assistant Professor teaching Dogmatic Theology and Patristics.

Title: Gregory the Great: Why is he Great?

As one of only three Popes to have been immortalized with the epithet “the Great,” this presentation will explore why the Church gave Gregory this honour; specifically, it will focus on his story and two of his literary contributions, Pastoral Rule and Moralia.
