St. Augustine’s Year-End Dinner Honoured Cardinal Collins

The year-end dinner at St. Augustine’s Seminary took on an added level of excitement as it also doubled as an informal internal book launch of the Festschrift in honour of His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins.

Everyone attending the event at the Seminary on Saturday, April 23, 2022, received a copy of the book - For Love of the Church: A Festschrift on the Interests and Accomplishments of His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins. His Eminence was joined by many contributors.

A Festschrift is a volume of writings by various authors as a tribute to an esteemed individual – in this case, Cardinal Collins, marking his 75th birthday this year. With contributions from twenty scholars and practitioners – of a range of backgrounds and disciplines – the book shines a light on the various facets of his personality, faith, work, and life.

“The publication of a Festschrift not only acknowledges the leadership and achievements of Cardinal Collins, but also provides resources to pastors and lay ministers, and encourages creativity in students of theology. On a more long-term plan, we hope that this watershed moment in the academic history of St. Augustine’s Seminary could serve as the beginning of a regular publication that features the research and work of excellent professors and collaborators of St. Augustine’s Seminary,” says Fr. Abad.

A special thanks to all our Festschrift contributors: Fr. Giuseppe G. Scollo, Fr. Frederick Yonho Chung, Fr. John Elmer Abad, Monsignor Robert Nusca, Fr. Paul Pearson, Fr. Seamus Hogan, Dr. Donald Graham, Dr. Suzanne Rozell Scrosone, Fr. Peter Galadza, Rev. Dr. Charles Egbulefu, Rabbi Baruch Frydman-Kohl, Dr. Moira McQueen, Dr. Josephine Lombardi, Deacon Peter Lovrick, Fr. Charles Anang, Julien Hammond, Terence J. Fay, Quentin Schesnuik, Dr. Randy Boyagoda, Fr. Robert Barringer, and Fr. Edwin Gonsalves.

The book is published by Novalis and is available for purchase on their website.

We are pleased to share photos and videos from the event and welcome you to share them.
