Working for the Seminary is Like Family

For Abraham George, St. Augustine’s Director of Operations and Chief Engineer, working at the Seminary is more than a job, it’s like being part of a “family.”

Abraham has been with St. Augustine’s Seminary for 27 years, having first been hired as Assistant Engineer in 1995. He was named Chief Engineer in 2001 and took on the role of Assistant Director of Operations in 2019 before being named Director of Operations last year.

“As I started working at the Seminary, I was moved by the warmth and the love of the people - it felt like a big family,” he recalls. “I am thankful to be a part of the Seminary and hope to continue its mission going forward.”

He still remembers the first day he entered the Seminary in 1995, the day of his interview for the job.

“It’s still fresh in my mind. I met with Hans Burgers (then Director of Building Services), Sr. Annette Lacroix (who was Bursar at the time). I was hired as the Assistant Engineer on September 18, 1995, by Bishop John Boissonneau, who was the President and Rector.”

Over the years he says his “job responsibilities have changed, including aiding in many restorations, administrative duties, and operations, where I could use my electrical, mechanical, and power generation knowledge.”

He is grateful to be part of the St. Augustine’s family and looks forward to many more years of service.
