Inauguration of the Ecclesiastical Faculty of Theology
A Historic New Chapter in Theological Education
On August 27/28, the St. Augustine’s Seminary community gathered to inaugurate the Ecclesiastical Faculty of Theology.
The celebration marked the culmination of many years of prayer, planning, preparation, and work by generations of administrators, faculty, staff, and supporters—and the beginning of a new chapter in the theological life of the Church in Canada.
The new Faculty builds upon decades of theological education at St. Augustine’s, now offering the ecclesiastical degrees of the Bachelor of Sacred Theology (S.T.B.) and the Licentiate in Theology and Patristic Studies (S.T.L.).
In his address, Archbishop Carlo Maria Polvani reminded the community that theology ultimately leads us to contemplate Christ and to discover the true grandeur of the human person in Him.
As we look to the future, we give thanks to God for this historic milestone and for all those whose dedication helped make it possible. May the Faculty continue to form students who seek the face of Christ through study, prayer, and service to the Church. St. Augustine, pray for us!
