Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

Location: YouTube Livestream for the Annual Week of Prayer Service for GTA

Cost: Free

Description: Each year a host country prepares resources for the Vatican and World Council of Churches. The Middle East Council of Churches has provided the theme for 2022, “We saw the star in the East, and we came to worship him” (Mt.2:2).

The Office for Promoting Christian Unity and Religious Relations with Judaism, along with the Greater Toronto Area Council of Christian Churches has jointly organized a special prayer service to celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

Join Cardinal Collins and a wide representation of Christian leaders to pray for the restoration of the full visible unity willed by Jesus Christ for the Church. We will pray at Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church at 920 Progress Ave., Scarborough, on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at 4 p.m.

All are welcome to attend in person or watch the Livestream on YouTube (link above) or Facebook: www.facebook.com/TorontoArmenianChurch

In this annual celebration, we are reminded that the unity of the Church is both a gift of the Holy Spirit and a task for all Christians.

“Change of heart and holiness of life, along with public and private prayer for the unity of Christians, should be regarded as the soul of the whole ecumenical movement, and merits the name, ‘spiritual ecumenism’.” (Unitatis redintegratio, 8).

This event is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Toronto’s Office for Promoting Christian Unity & Religious Relations with Judaism, and the Greater Toronto Area Council of Christian Churches.
