"Beauty ever ancient, ever new”: a look at the literal and spiritual sense of the bible

Location: Online

Cost: Free

Description: Join Spiritus Via Young Adult Ministry for an evening with associate professor of Biblical Theology at St, Augustine's seminary, Fr. Fred Chung as he takes us on a night through the Bible on Feb 2, 2022 @ 7PM

The Bible is truly the living Word of God which amazes us with many layers of meaning or “senses.” The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC115-119) speaks about the “literal” and “spiritual senses” of the Bible. In this presentation we will reflect on one very famous scene from the Gospel of John, and see what literal or practical message we can draw from it; and then explore several spiritual meanings. There will be a guided prayer based on this passage.

An open Q&A session will also be offered to ask any questions related to the Bible, including some stories very difficult to understand in our modern era.

Presenter: Fr. Fred Chung, Associate Professor of Biblical Theology at St, Augustine's seminary
