Dr. Adrian Ciani


Biography

Dr. Ciani recently published a chapter on Vatican neutrality in the Second World War in the 'Routledge History of the Second World War' (2022), and his chapter titled 'Vatican Neutrality and the Great War' will be published in the forthcoming 'Routledge History of the First World War' (forthcoming August 2024).

He has contributed a chapter on the Popes and the Jews since the French Revolution to the forthcoming Cambridge History of the Papacy, a three volume edition which examines the history of the papacy from its origins to present, forthcoming in the fall of 2024. 

He has also submitted the final manuscript of his book project, titled 'Sacred Ground: The Vatican, American Catholics and the Palestine Question', which examines the international Catholic response to the rise of Zionism and the partition of Palestine. It will be published by McGill-Queen's University Press in early 2025.
