BIOGRAPHY

My Name is Peter Gittens, a permanent deacon since 1984.

I started teaching as a sessional lecturer in theology at St. Augustine’s Seminary in the Graduate Extension Division in the late 1980s, teaching Mariology, and Sexual Morality. After full-time teaching (philosophy and theology) in New Orleans at Our Lady of Holy Cross College, (now the University of Holy Cross), from 2001 to 2009, and retiring with the academic rank of “full” professor of theology, I returned to Canada and resumed teaching as a sessional lecturer at St. Augustine’s Seminary, in the Institute of Theology, teaching Moral Theology, Sacramental Theology, The Christian God, and Theological Anthropology.

Prior to that, I taught theology full-time for five years at Niagara University, USA, followed by work in Religious Education for the Hamilton Catholic School Board (ten years) and the Wellington Catholic School Board in Guelph (sixteen years).
